UpWork, People Per Hour, Guru.com, and Freelancer.com, are all excellent freelance sites from which to begin your freelance career. However, simply making an account and filling it with random text will not benefit you well.

If you're serious about becoming a freelancer, the first step is to develop a complete and attractive freelancer profile.

So, here's what your freelancer profile should have.

1. Use Your Real Name

Even though it's common sense to use your own name when doing business, many freelancers still use fake names on their freelancer sites.

2. Include a Professional Photo

Don't even consider using a selfie or a strange close-up webcam photo as your profile image. Most inexperienced freelancers make this mistake.

Get yourself cleaned up. Dress nicely. Also, have someone else take your picture. Make sure not to focus too much on the background. But most importantly, SMILE!

3. Create a Unique Headline

Your job title should be described in your headline. So, try to be as clear as possible to let your client know what you do.

Make your headline more professional. For example, if you're skilled in writing eBooks, call yourself an "eBook Writer" rather than just a "Writer." Instead of "Web Developer," use "WordPress Plugin Developer."

Narrow your focus and you'll have a greater chance of being discovered on a large site like Upwork.

4. Create a first-person bio.

Avoid describing yourself in the third person, as if you were narrating a movie, and avoid writing your freelancer profile as if it were a page on a corporate website.

Describe Your Experience And Qualifications In your bio, provide a sentence or two about your qualifications and experience. However, try not to boast too much. Don't be like this person.

5. Add the Skills You have Commanded on.

The last and very important tip is to add specific skills to your profile on which you have full command. Most newbies add irrelevant skills to their profiles for getting more work. Please don't do this mistake if you want success in your freelance carrier. Only add those skills which are relevant to your niche and on which you have full command.

Use the "Employment History," "Education," and "Other Experiences" areas to enrich your profile.
